Virunga gorilla safari is a magical journey into the isolated jungles of one of the oldest National parks in Africa the Virunga National Park where you should expect an experience like no other. Being close to a family of wild mountain gorillas in the deep misty jungle of Congo’s Virunga National Park is utterly magical; nothing can ever prepare you for such an experience, their sheer beauty, brawn and soulful brown eyes, their astonishingly human-like expressions or their extraordinarily gentle demeanor. One hour with these gentle creatures, is all it takes to change your whole life’s experience.
The driver will pick you very early in the morning from the hotel and he will brief you on the safari. The driver will transfer you from Kigali to Bukima in Congo and the journey takes 4 hours to arrive to Goma town where you will have lunch stop. He will continue driving after lunch to Bukima where you will spend overnight. Dinner and overnight.
The next day, your guide will drive you to the Park Headquarters for briefing and joining others for briefing before heading into the Virunga Forest for your gorilla trekking safari. This trek can last for between 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of mountain gorilla family you are allocated for trekking on that particular day. Once you find the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them while observing their behavior, taking photographs and then after the one-hour encounter with the gorillas you return to the Park Headquarters to end the trek.
Trekking gorillas in a protected area known for moist evergreen rain forest of Virunga National Park is enriching experience in Congo, and is a very rewarding experience in the most sought after Mountain Gorilla by visitors, a hike in to the Park takes 30 minutes to 5 hours as trying looking a rare mountain gorillas, you will be able to meet other species such as bird species but once you find gorillas, you are allowed to spend only one hour with them and then after you will return back to Park headquarters.
The Congo gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park is a strictly run gorilla conservation project based on gorilla protection and safety, the ranger guide is armed in order to give protection to visitors/ trackers and porters lead visitors to where a family of the gorillas is located.
